Microsoft Adware and Spyware Removal Tools Explained

March 3rd, 2008

Unlike the Mac OSX and Linux operating systems, Microsoft Windows systems are prone to being “infected” with spyware, adware and malware. These are programs that are often inadvertently downloaded to a person’s personal computer and can cause a range of problems.

Adware is designed to push unwanted advertising to someone whilst browsing the Internet or even when they are just using their computer. Spyware is associated with tracking a person’s use of the Internet, whilst malware - the most dangerous of the lot - can cause havoc on a person’s computer or steal their personal information for unlawful purposes.

Signs that there may be spyware, adware or malware on your computer are: the appearance of pop-up ads when you are not actively browsing the web; new toolbars in your Internet Explorer browser; or a major slow-down in the speed and performance of your computer. However, some spyware and malware may not be so obvious… until you suddenly find your identity stolen or you’re unable to control your computer!

Fortunately, there are a number of adware and spyware removal tools available. By and large, they are designed to detect and remove adware, spyware, pop-up generators, keyloggers, trojans, hijackers and other types of malware. The best adware and spyware removal tools perform the following functions:

1. Scan your entire computer system for the threatening programs;

2. Prevent you from downloading adware, spyware or malware;

3. Are updated frequently and automatically to identify, remove and prevent the download of adware, spyware and malware;

4. Block pop-up ads; and

5. Warn you when you are visiting a website known to spawn harmful programs.

Depending on the tool in question, it may include other helpful features too.

Where to find these adware and spyware removal tools? If you search on “adware removal” or “spyware removal tool” or something similar you are bound to generate a long list of programs that may help you. Some of the reputable programs are Xoftspye SE, Noadware, AdwareAlert, Spyware Remover, Spyware Nuker, AdwareBot and SpyNoMore.

One of the great things about these particular programs is that you can download a free trial version and immediately test it out on your computer. Once you’re satisfied that it has the features and benefits you want, it’s just a matter of purchasing a license and regularly using the program to prevent existing or potential adware, spyware or malware from disrupting your Internet and computer use.

Finding Affordable Spyware and Adware Removal Software

March 2nd, 2008

As an Internet user you’ve probably visited one or more websites where an annoying pop-up has appeared… or you’ve been asked (or forced) to download a “helpful” tool bar to your computer… or the website has attempted to add itself to your web browser “Favorites” or even as one of the icons on your computer desk top.

If you haven’t taken certain precautions you may have let one of these adware or spyware programs do their thing… only to discover that your computer is running much, much slower than it used to, and your movements on the Internet are being watched and tracked. Even worse, you may not even KNOW that any of this is going on!

If you don’t like the sound of this kind of thing, you’ll probably want to know how you can get rid of any adware or spyware programs that are hidden on your computer. Not to mention how to avoid  accidentally downloading any such programs in the future. But you probably DON’T want to hear that there is an enormous cost in accomplishing this…

Well, fortunately, you don’t have to pay much at all for a program that will: (a) remove adware and spyware;  and (b) update itself so that you are protected from adware and spyware on an ongoing basis.

If you do a search on “adware removal” or “spyware removal” using your favorite search engine, you’ll probably see a long list of results that lead to websites offering different programs available to identify and remove such harmful programs. And, even better, many of these are reasonably inexpensive or available as free trial downloads, or both!

Just a few of the programs you can download and try out for free include: Xoftspye SE, Noadware, AdwareAlert, Spyware Remover, Spyware Nuker, AdwareBot and SpyNoMore. These programs have various different features and benefits. Some will have greater or lesser appeal to you, depending on your needs and circumstances. For example, some come with automatic updates… some block unwanted adware or spyware before it’s downloaded to your computer… some have more or less active technical support. Generally all, however, include the basic ability to scan for adware and spyware and remove any such programs they find.

Nevertheless, with the capacity to download each of these programs for free, you can assess which one is affordable and right for you. Having done so, you can then make your purchase. And, as previously mentioned, you may be pleasantly surprised to discover that they are all generally in the $20-$40 range.
